Joey has worked as a freelance graphic/web designer and photographer since graduating from Salford University in 1997 with a first-class honours in Visual Arts.
His artwork is processed based, using materials and objects to draw with selected for each series, including paper, ink, rubber bands, thread, found imagery, Letraset and stencils. His background in graphic design and computer-based image making remains a constant aesthetic in his work with text and monochromatic compositions collaged together.
Joey’s current work explores traditional collage and printmaking processes where an image is constructed, de-constructed, then re-constructed, connecting each new component to the next.
Each piece of work is made by an intuitive process of image building, experimenting with the pictorial possibilities of line, colour, form and space through printing, drawing, photography and collage.
